A mother accused of killing her two babies was too ill to appear at the Old Bailey.
Felicia Boots, 34, is believed to be suffering from postnatal depression.
Boots was due to appear by videolink from Holloway prison on Tuesday morning to be formally remanded after first appearing before magistrates.
But Judge Christopher Moss was told by the prison’s medical centre that she was not well enough to take part.
He said Boots was due to be transferred to a psychiatric hospital under the Mental Health Act.
No bail application was made during the brief hearing and Boots was further remanded in custody to a hearing on 10 August.
Judge Moss said: “I confirm that this defendant be remanded in custody with the intention that she be transferred to hospital under the Mental Health Act.
“That is a matter for the secretary of state and not for this court.”
Julian Evans, prosecuting, had asked for Boots to be remanded in custody.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – Ron Paul told supporters Monday that he is suspending his campaign for president because he doesn’t have enough money to compete against Mitt Romney.
“Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future,” Paul said in an email posted on his website.
Paul said he will no longer actively campaign in primaries in states that have not yet voted, including Texas.
“Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have,” he wrote.
Paul was the last man standing between Mitt Romney and the GOP nomination for president.
Mitt Romney is 178 delegates shy of the 1,144 needed to capture the nomination, and Paul faces an all-but-impossible task of catching him. Paul
Prime Minister John Key has dismissed suggestions New Zealand woman are too promiscuous and don’t deserve free contraception.
Conservative Party leader Colin Craig has said people must take responsibility for their own actions.
“Why should a 70-year-old, who has had the same partner all their life, have to pay for a young woman who wants to sleep around?”
And he suggested that New Zealand women were some of the most promiscuous in the world.
“People should be responsible for the consequences, and for meeting the cost of their own lifestyle choices.”
It was time for the state, and specifically the welfare system, to stop playing mum and dad to New Zealanders, Craig said.

An old MySpace page apparently belonging to George Zimmerman has surfaced online, and has drawn scrutiny for disparaging remarks about Mexicans and a former lover.
There are new photos of Zimmerman on the site, which appear to be several years old. There are also two blog posts, both dated August 2005, which make reference to Zimmerman’s past legal woes.
Of leaving his native Manassas, Va., Zimmerman wrote: “I dont miss driving around scared to hit mexicans walkin on the side of the street, soft [expletive] wanna be thugs messin with peoples cars when they aint around (what are you provin, that you can dent a car when no ones watchin) dont make you a man in my book.
