Obama to lay wreath at Ground Zero

Former President George W. Bush declines invitation to accompany Obama

President Barack Obama will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Ground Zero and meet with 9/11 families and first responders when he visits Thursday.

The White House provided the new details on the trip in a statement Wednesday.

Following the killing of Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Obama plans to mark the occasion by visiting the most famous site of bin Laden’s destruction.

The White House says Obama’s trip will include a private meeting with family members of 9/11 victims, a meeting with first responders that will be open to some news coverage, and a wreath-laying at the 9/11 memorial.

Obama has a history of shifting his stance on funding of campaigns

President Obama, who denounced the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision that allows donors to give unlimited funds to pay for campaign ads without having their names disclosed, now looks likely to benefit from those same type of ads next year.

In his State of Union address in 2010 Obama administered a scolding to the Supreme Court justices who had joined the majority in the Citizens United decision — with some of those justices sitting in front of him in the House chamber.

New Orleans, LA — A collision involving an Amtrak train and a vehicle left a woman dead in Jefferson Parish. The fatal train accident occurred late Wednesday night, April 20, 2011 just after 10:30 p.m., in the 1000 block of Central Avenue, reported NOLA.com.

According to Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies, the female driver of a silver 2002 Toyota Camry was killed when her vehicle was struck by an Amtrak passenger train as it was on its way to New Orleans from Chicago.

The victim has not been identified.
