Clearwater, FL — The president of a Clearwater condo community was arrested Friday, accused of using her community association position to scam a Dunedin woman out of almost $300,000.

Clearwater investigators say Barbara Lockett, 49, is a licensed real estate broker. Last year, while serving as the Mission Hills president, Lockett sold 22 units to Kelly Choi and handled the paperwork for the sales. Detectives say Lockett told Choi where to wire money, which turned out to be Lockett’s personal account.

Half of the condo units are either in foreclosure or are behind on mortgage payments, while the other half were not even listed for sale. Detectives believe there may be other victims out there and are still investigating.

Lockett is being held in jail on felony charge of scheming to defraud.
